Nuestra Señora de la Soledad
Description
Nuestra Señora de la SoledadMy favorite new piece this week is this gorgeous hand carved statuette of Nuestra Seora de la Soledad from Mexico signed D. Cortez. The Cortez family was renowned for their carvings, made between the 1920s 1950s. She measures just over 12 tall. At some point many decades ago, someone attempted a glue repair of the rays. I have left this as is.
The back does open up should you ever wish to change the glass
a little eerie
I’ve also heard you are very bold
Check the Victoriana section for another one: More square and silver-toned
Refer to photos for condition: Some wear associated with age
woodblock printed on tissue-thin rice paper and never used
No dents or scratches
Victorian decorative objects painted with black lacquer and inlaid with mother of pearl are some of my favorite things to collect
It’s nice when things are perfect
Bound in soft leather covers and dating to the 1880s
which has about a 27
later Victorian frame about 14” tall
